Green Light for Green Skills Conference speakers and workshops are in place.

Dr Heinz Schandl  from CSIRO is co author of the report "Growing the green Collar Economy" . He will present the findings from this important research commissioned by the Duseldopp Skills Forum.

Roz Hall Director Department of Environment and Climate Change will outline NSW government initiatives supporting sustainability.

Matthew Tukaki, General Manager, Government and Public Sector from Drake International will provide both a domestic and international analysis of what is happening on the green jobs front, showcasing case studies in skills reform to support green jobs in the United States and actual green jobs and skills programs that are already in place.

An invitation has been made for proposals, papers and presentations to be presented at the Conference.

The deadline is listed as 15 July with approvals listed as 30 July.

We are pleased announce that TAFE NSW Managers Association Leadership Awards were launched at our AGM on 18 June.  Please refer to the Leadership Award Flyer and support relevant TAFE staff to complete nominations for these awards.  Successful nominations will be presented at our Annual Conference in August.

This Mentoring Workshop is provided as part of the Mentoring Program Launch 2 for 2009. Ann Rolfe from Mentoring Works will provide a workshop to demystify mentoring and to clarfiy the mentoring concept, how mentoring works and how to enable mentoring conversations.

This 90-minute workshop to be held on Thursday 18 June 2009, will provide members and guests with the opportunity to consolidate and to develop mentoring skills for use in professional development programs.

Please refer to the attached notice of the Annual General Meeting for 2009. Our AGM will be held on Thursday 18 June at Liverpool College, TAFE NSW - South Western Sydney Institute.

The notice invites nominations for vacant Institute representative positions to be elected at the AGM.

We are also planning to launch our Mentor and Leadership Program at the AGM.

The TAFE Managers Mentor Program was launched at the AGM on19 June 2008. It is envisaged that the Mentor Program will build up with the support from TAFE NSW Manager Institute Representatives and interested mentees.

Step one - will be for Members of the Association to nominate as Mentors for 2008 by completing the Mentor's Nomination Form by 23 July.

Step two - The Association will provide a list of Mentors who have offered to provide their Mentor's services starting from 28 July 2008.

Step three - Interested Mentees will complete a Mentee Program Request Form, providing a brief description of the reason(s) for seeking support from a TAFE Manager's Mentor.

These expressions of interest will be submitted to the TAFE Managers Association starting from 28 July. Advice will be provided to enable Mentees to directly contact listed Mentors or for your Institute Representative to support you in being placed with a suitable available Mentor.

The opportunity for Mentees to be placed in contact with Mentors will close on 19 September 2008.

The outcomes of the Mentor Program will be celebrated at an end of year function hosted by the Association.

A mentor program available to members was launched at the AGM by President Kevin.

Designed to give prospective managers assistance with developing skills and understanding to equip them better for management roles, the program will conclude in December 2008.

Volunteers are sought from experienced Managers to act as mentors and persons wishing to benefit from the program as mentees, should contact President Kevin for more details and registration.
